19/365

{19/365} OK....now what?

I'm very excited as yesterday I bought my very first DSLR.  I agonized all day over the decision of what kind of camera to get and was sure I left home ready to purchase a Nikon.  When I got to the store I was almost talked into a Sony, but the battery wouldn't charge and the salespeople were uncomfortable with that.  At the last minute, I went with the Canon Rebel.  I liked the way the menu options worked vs. the Nikon....it seemed more intuitive to me.  Now I pray I made the right decision.  But I do suppose that either camera is the right decision as long as I can make it work.
Remind me; where's the on button?

Oh my, Susan...........it's one of the bigger ones. The kind I wanted but settled for the Olympus Stylus because of my arthritis. I am soooooooo jealous right now. I did feel the same way though about trying to make it work as I hated the camera once I got it home. Not user friendly and no manual (in English, that is). I finally got them to send me one online. Now it's a bit easier. Sorry, but I can't help you with the buttons............Wishing you a wonderful day with your new camera.

I have a Canon Rebel and it's served me very well. A sturdy little friend who has been on many a trip to the beach, to the snow and slept in dusty corners of bags that I am embarrassed to tell about. You'll become great friends, I'm sure.

Congratulations in the new camera! My free advice is to be patient with yourself as you learn to use it -- I didn't go for the DSLR, but recently bought a bridge camera that has a certain amount of manual control and now after 2 months I am starting to figure it out. At first I did a lot of shooting in auto and a little other shooting and now I am starting to do more of the other shooting. There were times of frustration and wondering if I bought the wrong camera -- but it is getting better now -- I think I am a slow learner when it come to cameras, but I am learning.

Congrats. I'm glad you went with the Canon Rebel - that's what I have! You'll have so many more options with the rebel than the Sony. Good luck and have fun!

That is so exciting - have lots of fun playing and getting frustrated - it will be worth it as a journey on its own. Looking forward to seeing your shots. Cherry XXX

Hi!
Your blog is wonderful...the title caught my attention when you posted a comment on my blog. (Thank you) When I did my student teaching back in Chicago (in the dark ages....more than 30 years ago) I taught at a Magnet School for the deaf. I will never forget it...they danced to strobe lights that sync-ed with the music. It was excellent. Anyway...back to photography. I have the same camera and I loved it. I forced myself to sit with the manual until I finally had it down. I was so excited I had to buy another battery because i kept zooming in to see what I had captured. I look forward to visiting here again!
