Weekend Reflections

Linking with James for this week's weekend reflections.  One of my faves!!

Not that I'm boasting or taunting or anything like that....but, the "no dogs" sign at the beach is finally down and put away for the season.  Yee-haw.   While I totally understand that beach-goers in bare feet are not happy sharing space with dogs, I find it frustrating not to be able to enjoy the beach during the BEST months for beach going.

In the midst of January my Tula and I plod along in biting winds...me bundled, she with ears blown back.  Oft we're the only ones there-I feel like the "beach keeper" at times.  Then summer hits and tourists and sun worshipers fill the sands and Tula and I are not welcome.  Honestly, I'm willing to share the sands in January, really I am, but the gesture is not reciprocal.  I guess the best and yet worst part of that is the cold months are many more than the warm.

Thursday morning was a great day.  So glad I woke up early.

Let's just say that I wasn't the only one delighted that the "no dogs" sign is down.  First beach run of the fall season.

Have a great weekend.  Tula and I will be at the beach.  Thanks James!

stunning shot of Tula's reflection! Maybe other dog owners don't carry bags to pick up the leavings. Some people just ruin pleasure for others such a walk on the beach. :(

Yay Tula got to go to the beach. Wonderful reflections!

These pictures are wonderful! I love the reflections but there's so much more. Enjoy the beach with your dog while you can. :)

I understand that not all people are 'dog people', so there should be a dog beach. Honestly, I'd rather share the sand with a bunch of dogs, I've never met a rude or obnoxious dog :-)

Great series, Morning View and Happy Dog are my favs of this group.

I so enjoyed this beautiful walk on the beach with you and Tula, Susan; Tula looks like a sweetie and it's such a beautiful morning you've captured wonderfully, reflections and all. I can understand a dog owner's frustration with not being allowed to bring their dogs on the beach in summer months, but even if I can NOT say I am NOT a dog person, I must admit that the sunbather in me (from days long past) is not crazy about excited dogs - whether it was my own or someone else's - shaking water and sand on my skin. Lucky for you the prohibition is not all year long, hey? :-)

That's so wonderful! Tula sure looks happy :) Lovely reflections, as usual...I looove that last one; the lighting is gorgeous <3

I'm so happy for you and Tula! I can sorta relate...each time I take the kids to the beach during the summer, my heart aches a bit for poor Linus who has to be left behind.

What great photos. We go to a beach in California that allows dogs on the beach. And I have to say I get the biggest kick out of watching them run up and down the beach. They look like they are having a ball.. Who wouldn't, after all they are at the beach!!!

Beautiful light in every shot. Reflections in wet sand are always lovely.

I can so relate to what you say; dog walkers make use of these spaces winter and summer, good weather and bad, and then suddenly when summer comes all these other people come flooding in and act as if it's their space and tell you you can't use it! I'm slightly tongue-in-cheek here, as I can understand that no-one wants to step on dog dirt or have a wet, sandy dog bounce all over them, but there must be some kind of compromise that would work.

On some of our beaches here, and in some nature trails too, there are 'dog areas' which confine dog walkers to one particular route or bit of beach. Not ideal, but better than not being able to use it at all. We also sometimes have a ban on dogs that only applies during the main part of the day, so that early morning or evening walkers still have the freedom of the beach.

Love your pictures, too.
