Color Purple

Purple Flowers
Purple Flowers

More and more I'm messing around with collage pieces.  My subjects thus far have been kind of emotionally dark and intense.  A friend was interested in how they go together so she and I created this one yesterday.  Kept the mood lighter....perhaps that's a good thing.  At least for sharing.

I don't generally use textures, but once in awhile I give them a try...."One Word" by Kim Klassen is my favorite.  I thought it might look good on this piece.
Do you have a preference?

I'm not one to use textures much, either; however, I do like your second image. The texture really makes it warmer in my opinion. I'd print and frame and hang it on my wall. :-)

I love both images but I find myself drawn to the darker seemingly more emotionally charged image (but that's just me).

Oh wow - the textures add such depth and warmth to these pictures! Makes spring seem closer than it is!

I like the piece with the texture - it is lighter and brighter and makes the scene feel like it's illuminated by the sun.

Marvelous captures and colors! I really love them both, but think I'm a bit partial to the textured one! Hope your week is going well, Susan!

Digital collages are such fun. I like the textured version - the addition of the texture layer pulls all the photo textures together and gives the collage a golden glow.

I have yet to try textures. The second image is lighter...and almost looks like fabric to me. I think I do like that version a bit more.

I rather like the textured one. Nicely done.

hmmmm. my preference is the first photo, but my bias against textures may be playing a role in my decision. I like the depth in the top shot, and in my eye the texture takes that away somewhat. I like how you play around and experiment. always keeping it interesting.

I really like them both, but am fondest of the textured one. It looks like a beautiful painting - very soft and charming, yet still dramatic. Nice! I'd happily put a frame around that and hang it on my wall!
