Creative Exchange

Linking with Lisa (geez that could be the name of a novel or something) for this week's Creative Exchange.  Push on through....lots of incredible art and artists supply awe to this link up every week.  As always, thank you Lisa.

I want to write something other than "I hate winter".....

.......... um........

.........er......well......ah.......

............................okay,

Zero degrees is just too damn cold for sanity to take place or for any photog to tiptoe out for more than 3 minutes here and there.  Would that at all be considered a more positive thing to say than "I hate winter"?  No?  You could hear me raising my voice through the blogosphere?  Sorry.

How about this?...........
On the bright side, when said photog did tiptoe out for 3 minutes here and then 3 minutes there Mother Nature did not disappoint.

Etching

Amazing what beauty can be found lingering on the dirty windows inside the garage-yes, it's this cold INside the garage.....whoops, supposed to be thinking positive thoughts......a visit from that sneaky little Jack Frost.  Damn he's good.

Zero Degrees {2/52}
Zero Degrees

From the bridge in town.....sea smoke on the river-its mist laced the tree branches in ice-and the light was perfect to enhance it all.

OK, yes this was worth the 3 minute thing.  Left the car running with the heat blasting.  A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Hope you're warm.  Should you need a travel partner to St. Kitts or something-you know; call me.
Thanks for stopping by.

I was in NYC yesterday and it physically HURT to be outside for more than 5 minutes...so I guess I should have been happy to have those 2 extra minutes than you have! haha. But it severely impacted and limited me to only a few photos which was a MAJOR disappointment. I hate winter too BUT...looks like Mother Nature game you some BEAUTIFUL images to capture. The detail in the first is quite amazing, but the lighting in the second is downright ethereal looking.

Susan - the lengths one will go for one's art. You and Jack Frost make beautiful images together, regardless of your prickly relationship. Stay warm! Sincerely, your therapist

Sorry it is so miserably cold, but you did manage to capture some amazing images in your three minutes!

LOL - I love your post! Linking with Lisa - sounds really great! And yes, I, too, um..., er... well... don't like winter too much! ;-)
But I do love your winter photos! They are definitely worth a little bit of winter!

Hi Susan,
It looks like you made the most of your 3 minute gig! These frosty images are stunning and worth the pain, right?! Yep, the real cold does blow, literally and figuratively. Luckily, we haven't had our usual WI weeks of below zero. Suppose I shouldn't say that too loudly.....
Thanks so much for your comment at CE and on my blog! I do appreciate them.

ooh la la. shall I say that again? ooh la la. both are very cool (do'h!). what I wouldn't give to get a shot like that second one. we call that hoar frost here in the Mid. I love the steam rising in the distance, catching the rays. happy Monday to you. keep your toes warm.

It's 2 below 0 here right now, and just a little after 1:00 pm, so I think I know what tonight will be like! These are wonderful photographs Susan. I attempted one like the first one here just this morning, but my lens "fogged," and I ran inside. Just not fit out there today for my camera or for me!!!

Thank you so much for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

Have a great day!

lisa.

Oh, these are gorgeous captures, Susan! It started snowing here in Seattle yesterday and we're supposed to have more for the next several days! It is beautiful, but makes getting around a little more difficult! Sam Schnauzer thinks it's really cool and I'm afraid he'll wear his sniffer out before the snow goes away!! Have a great week!

Oh! These are stunning images! Gorgeous captures! What a beautiful winter wonderland you live in! That said, I totally hear you on the cold part. I cannot stand to be cold. To me it is painful, makes my back ache, therefore making it rather difficult to go out into. Cold is just wrong to me. But WOW! Look at what cold can do! Amazing. These shots are simply amazing and should be framed and hung on your walls immediately!

Tout comme toi je n'aime pas l'hiver et son froid... Cependant Dame Hiver nous réserve de belles surprises rien que pour le plaisir des yeux...
Merci pour ces belles photos.
gros bisous

Don't want to be a copycat and say gorgeous photos, worth the cold, etc. but...they are truly beautiful and I admire your willingness to freeze for the sake of art! It is nice to be rewarded with photos like these - great shots! And, having lived in northern Michigan for 5 years, long ago, I can say, I know cold...and I don't want to live in it any more!

I got to scrape ice off BOTH sides of my car windows this morning. By that I mean inside as well as outside. But at least the car started. At minus 1, it was more cheerful about it than I was. I'm proud of you for getting these beautiful shots in spite of it all. I love that second one, with the contrast of sunlit fog and glittering ice.

I feel the same way about winter. But some of my favorite shots come from winter photographing. Mother Nature is the best artist, n'est ce pas?

As you know, I didn't even venture outside for my shot today -- and it wasn't no 0 degrees either. I feel ashamed now. Not really! :)

Beautiful shots -- I just love those icy/frosty branches.

Hi Susan - love the frost on the window - who knew a garage door window was so artsy! I came across a photo from last year's winter - so I am not complaining about the cold!!! Remember all of that "white stuff"? This photography is fun isn't it?

Love those shots of Jack Frost's handiwork. I was reading about putting some watercolor on paper and leaving it outside in the cold to make designs like that in watercolor. Haven't tried it yet..........it's too dang cold!
