Rockin' the Sunday Scavenger

Linking with Ashley today for SHS.

Happy Sunday.  The sun is shining, I've already walked the hound on the beach, I'm looking at a lawn that needs mowing, laundry, de-cluttering and a trip to the gym.  But....got my cup o' coffee in my favorite multi-striped mug and I'm taking a little me time to indulge in the SHS before my day gets ramped up.

Farmhouse Yellow

Beneath Your Feet:  Gotta remember to look down, there's good stuff there that's easy to miss.

Roll On

Capturing Movement:  She was coming down the hill, fast.  It was all I could do to get the camera up.  Wish I'd caught her in better light, but....she's moving.  Love those instantaneous street grabs.

Decorative Hinge

Texture:  Visited the local trolley museum.  One of my friends volunteers there-she was scraping paint off a 1904 trolley car in the process of restoration.  There were at least 5-6 old trolleys in the barn in various states of restoration.  They research them and restore to original state-which can sometimes take 20+ years.  This is a window and hinge-they sure made beautiful cars "back in the day".

Face Your Fears:  Tough topic-but I made this into 2 fears.
  I love shooting graffiti-but always have that sense of fear-normally I find graffiti in "sketchy" areas and feel I must have eyes in the back of my head and constantly aware.
Another fear....Art.  I'd like to make art, and do with photos, but feel I'm not creative enough to be the creator of the art, only able to capture someone else's creation.
Jus' sayin' there's an intro to drawing class at the local college.  I may have to try.

A Wee Weed
A Wee Weed

Currently:  Currently-this is my fave time of year because of the amazing light.  Currently the weeds are thriving too.  Combining the two made sense.

Well, now on to that mowing/laundry/gym thing.  Hope there may be a little window for a nap too.  Have a fabulous day.

Weekend Reflections

Happy Friday.  Friday means time for Weekend Reflections hosted by the fabulous James.

Did a little better with the ol' reflection hunting this week.  Phew!  I thought I was losing my touch.

Reflections in Gray BW

Um tons of gray days and foggy skies, drizzle and yuck.  Give me some stinkin' sun, would ya?

OK, I guess there was some sun this week.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Hope you have an extra day off coming your way.

May Selfie Time

Linking with Christy, the Urban Muser for this month's selfie self challenge.

In The Picture

I started {in the picture} with no expectations, no self-imposed goals or restrictions, no idea if self-portraits would appeal or not.  Here we are 5 months in.  Because I gave myself no rules, I haven't broken any rules.  Brilliant!

There is a monthly suggestion. Suggestion, not requirement, to allow participants to expand away from their "go to" stuff and try something new.  This month's was to insert oneself into a local landscape.  A couple of weeks ago, I realized I hadn't tried that and had better move my buns to get it done. (There is bumper sticker potential with that phrase me thinks)

Drifter {20/52}
Drifter {20/52}

I'm really pleased with this image.  Being here on the east coast, it's not always easy to find an open western facing exposure for good sundown.  This is a stretch of two-lane highway along open plains where people move along at 50 mph.  I did had to choose my moment carefully.  Funny I've been doing this selfie thing for long enough it was only later I considered how goofy I may have looked running in and out of the street with my short legged tripod set in the shoulder .  What we won't do for {in the picture}!

Fields Collage
Fields Collage

I also stepped off the highway and took this open grasses shot which I turned into a collage.  Doesn't look quite as desolate.  Selfies can tend to have a sense of loneliness.  Self-one-you know?

It's been a tough month for me, lots of up and down with the mood.  Earlier in the month I tried capturing what was going on in my insides, outside.  I think that is something that taking a bunch of selfies allows the photographer to do....really see-the good, bad, and the ugly.  Or maybe it's only me that's looking that hard.

Nothing Left {18/52}
Nothing Left {18/52}

No landscape here I'm afraid.  I'm not showing my mom this photo....that will trigger too many "what's wrong" questions, and perhaps chicken soup.  I took this in early May on the rottenest of days.  I'm feeling better now.

One thing I had a tough time with was focus.  My self-timer allows a 10 second window, and finding some mark to set focus on and then jump into is difficult.  My camera doesn't allow for a remote hand held so this last image, although a pretty setting, is too blurry for my taste.  That's OK, something to strive for.

Low Tide
Low Tide

Those are my takes for {in the picture}.  Jus' sayin', it's never too late to join in.  You might even like it.
Thanks to hostess Christy too.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Scavenger Shmavenger

Linking with Ashley for this week's hunt.  Thank you Ashley.

Weather is turning, days are long which is helping bring back the desire to pick up the camera a bit more.  I do push through the uninspired times, but those exciting flashes have been few and far between.  Hoping the coming weeks will bring more of them.  The SHS is a wonderful way to stay out of my head and focus on the challenge.

Evening Blues {19/52}
Evening Blues

Rainbow:  Saw no rainbows, found no pot of gold; ran into zero over sized multi-colored lollipops, and have no colorful kids toys to ransack.  So, an image with a mini-rainbow of colors.
And NO this blue burst was not for me.

Gift of Spring
Gift of Spring

Fluffy:  I kind of forgot about "fluffy" this week.  Looking through my images-well, there ain't no fluff.  Everything seems to have a hard edge.  Made me curious...so I went back a few months.  Still no fluff.  I need to soften up I guess.  These pinks will have to do.

Taking Notes
Taking Notes

Letters:  Just finished up my advanced digital imaging class.  I took lots of notes-the old fashioned way.  Works for me.

Kick the Can {19/52}
Kick the Can

Metal:  OMG I love this image.  It's OK if you don't-it's quirky.  After taking a bunch of charming lobster boats, pretty spring flowers, and rustic fences and sheds-I need me some grunge. Visiting an old abandoned mill works.  Scrunge and grunge.  Yah.

Flowering Tree
Flowering Tree

Tree(s):  This might be a lilac-but a tall one.  If not, there's a bunch of trees in the background to cover me. Went out to list a house this week and take boring real estate like pictures, but then I snuck in a few for me too.  Hope I sells it soon.....that would be nice, for me, and the owner.

Thanks for stopping by the SHS.  If this is a link up you've been thinking about trying, I recommend that you do.  Always fun and all are welcome.  Take a try. You'll like it.

Sarcasm and wine-in no particular order

Caught?
or Caught Up?
You feelin' me on this?

Web BW {19/52}
Web BW {19/52}

I hate working on weekends and more and more, that's what I do.  Grrrrrr.  Today was one of those days as will be tomorrow and I worked all last week and last weekend and now a call comes that indicates that smack in the middle of Monday (which I was hoping to take off), there will be work, not to mention the rest of next week. Grrrrr.  I'm at 14 straight days and it's going to be at least 19 straight before there may be a tiny glimpse of hope for a day without work.  Calgon....take me far, far away.

Hence the photo above.  Simply caught.  Bitch. Moan.  I should choose another photo to take my mind off auto-replay....and another profession.  Anyone hiring a somewhat insane writer/photog?  Call me.

Burn Pile
Burn Pile

Smokin' hot guy.  Ah...it was about the smoke, not the guy.....I'll choose another one.

Pink
Pink

A sunset from the way back stacks.....do you have like billions and billions of photos that have never been seen apart by you?  I do, which is of course why I'm asking if you do too, to find out if I'm just an abnormal blip on the screen of society or part of the in crowd.  Not that it matters.

Maybe I won't really write anything of substance in this post, but just offer these unrelated images and thoughts, like this sunset.  Hard not to take them when they're lovingly taunting you like this. Still remembering my mother's question/comment "aren't all sunsets pretty much the same?" Apparently I was adopted, and not only that-I'm the milkman's daughter.  I'll move along.

Journeying BW
Journeying BW

I'm off topic.  But seeing there isn't a topic, I guess that's OK.

Escalator Up
Escalator Up

Journeying of an entirely different sort.  Escalator.  What the hell am I doing taking this photo?  Cool kicks though.

Lines
Lines

Lines....because lobstermen don't call them ropes, they call them lines.  What-evah.  They come in blue, pink, purple, turquoise, red, orange.  I wonder if the different colors mean something other than the owner was bored with the color du jour and decided to "change it up" a bit.  If so, they've been watching too much HGTV and CSI-bored lobsterman division.  The hell with Miami or L.A.

This photo reminds me of my brain. It goes circling round and round until I break the cycle with a video or I walk the dog. Sadly the dog has been walked and the video I have does not hold interest. Should you read on, it's at your own risk.

Purple
Purple

Oooh.  Pretty.  Too bad these don't last past May or early June.  Sincerely, if they hung around, I'd appreciate them just as much come mid-July.  Really; I would.

For Rent BW {17/52}
For Rent BW

Oooh.  Not so pretty.  How 'bout a little grunge?  If you lived here, you'd be home now....and your garbage cans would already be out at the curb.  Seriously, if I lived here, my life would be substantially more difficult than it is now.  I think I like to take these shots, maybe as a reminder of where I am not, or where I could slip to if good fortune did not support me.  I could live here, but it would be a lot tougher if I did.

Swim at own Risk
Swim at own Risk

A friend, now retired....great sense of humor...when telemarketers would call his home he would reply in a semi broken-English accent "son not home now".  They'd say something else he'd interrupt with "son not home now" and again "son not home now"....it kind of cracked me up and he said it worked.  I just hung up on them; he had fun.  This sign sort of reminded me of his "son not home now" comment.  I'm sure the lifeguards will soon be "on" duty most of the time.

Library Lion
Library Lion

If I only had courage....forgot about this cool lion shot.  From Boston Public Library-"BPL" if you're in the know.  I need to go back there.  Really cool stuff, like this lion, and another one directly across the stairwell from him.

Ferns in Sun
Ferns in Sun

I could go on and on finding images I've never shared and ridiculous things to say about them, but likely I lost my audience up there around the escalator someplace, so I'll just leave it with these gorgeous newly opened ferns caught in the late day sun.  No sarcasm at all, and my wine glass has been empty for more than 20 minutes.

Thanks for reading me-you're a star for doing so.  Take tomorrow off, and think of me.  I'll be working.

Reflection Connection

Linking with James for this week's Weekend Reflections.  Yay.

Finally catching up with life....and how does life get so far ahead?  Who knew life had a pace of its own which can speed off up ahead of you when you're bogged down.  Do you suppose there are times when you get ahead of life and it tries to catch up with you?  I think too much.  That's part of the problem.

Joy Ride
Joy Ride

This snappy red car was my reflection for last week....but like that red car thru the window frame-the time came and went too fast for me to get it done.
I do wish I'd timed this a little better.  Maybe next time.

Silence
Silence

I have always hated fog.  Here in Maine near the coast you can get weeks of it on end until you're going crazy.  BUT, it does present a wonderful mood for images.

Barn Reflection

Millpond
Millpond

This is the same image twice.  I can't decide if I like it upside down-as the image appeared in the pond, or turned right side up.  Do you have a preference?
Kismet that little water ring, huh?  I think that was a friendly over-sized mosquito passing thru.

Wishing you a happy weekend and thanks for popping in to say hello.

Sunday.  Making time for the SHS before honoring the MOM.

Walkin' and Talkin' BW
Walkin' and Talkin'

Sidewalk:  What is it Ashley says?  Oh yes, Captain Obvious.  Love that.  Just like when I show houses, very bad form to say "this is the kitchen".  Yah.  So here's a guy walking....you know where.

View From Every Table
View From Every Table

Inspiring:  OK, fessing up that I get inspired to take photos-and sometimes I can't figure out why I "must" stop and do so.  I've passed this 3 times and wanted to stop.  Finally did.  There's something so lonely, empty, and vast about this scene.  I'll have to go back when they're open.  Maybe they have really good hot dogs.

Weed at the Falls
Weed at the Falls

Time:  My favorite time of day.....when the late day sun is just right.  So right that most anything can look beautiful.

Window Box {18/52}

Close Up:  Colorful pansies outside a store front.

Go Lady Go
Go Lady Go

This is an enormous "outside the box" interpretation, but I'm going with it.

With a Mirror:  A little scooter with a mirror....even two. This woman kind of cracked me up zipping through town the other night.  Had to grab a quick snap.  There's that funky inspiration thing again.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I am not a mom, but wishing all those who are a happy and love filled day.

Golden Silence

Not linking with anyone, just thinking.......
about that "silence is golden" quote and wondering if at times it makes sense to turn it around.

The Beholder
The Beholder

You don't need to hear it, to find the delight,
for its whisper is felt with the eyes.

I'm not usually profound.  Wonder if it was the rarely used brown sugar I sprinkled on the oatmeal this morning.  Hmmmm.
Thanks for pondering along with me.
