Don't Jump

Linking with my friend Kathy over at "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" for this week's Song-ography post based on James Taylor's "Up on a Roof" or the roof or whatever.  I participate in a few link ups...and half the time can't remember the prompts, but when it's a song, it kind of sticks in my head.

Nice wide safe stairs.  I do think the people who use this as a back door emergency exit were wondering what the hell I was doing up there beside their open windows, but oh well.

If you'd like to play along-check out what next week's song is over at Kathy's blog and you too will be singing it for days.  God, I hope next week's is one I like....sometimes I'm in a store and think-"if I never hear this song again in my life, I'm OK with that.", but I'm sure Kathy will have great taste.

I can't stand that kind of a staircase but it does look rather interesting in a photograph

Interesting angle. I love this kind of metal stairways. Explore and have fun, that's my motto! Who cares what people are wondering about :)

I'm such a fan of black and white!
These iron stairs are perfect for a b/w shot!

You've taken me back to my HS days. Fire drills + 3rd floor classroom. Not something I would do today. As I drove around town I wondered what you would find for this prompt. I gave up and went to the archives.

You totally crack me up with your bravado Taking photos of police officers and being stopped by them,, now lurking on people's fire escapes. You aren't some sort of whack job are ya? lol. I think if we ever sent out shooting together we could get ourselves into some major predicaments...but would also have some major laughs! This shot is PERFECT processed in BW. Great choice. Really makes you focus on all the lines and linear aspect of the composition. Great job, and thanks for joining in on Song-ography. BTW, do you have any idea HOW to convert my icon into a link up button? I"m a moron.

Great take on the song - excellent set of stairs and nicely edited. It is true that Kathy's prompts do stick with you so much better than just words.

Love the lines in this one, Susan!

I'd be scared to go down a fire escape on a dare, but I'm sure in an emergency my vertigo would be subsumed in the terror of the moment and I'd be down before I knew it.
I rather like "Up On the Roof" but I remember an earlier version, I think, from the 50s. Don't know why I like it, as I don't do roofs!
Your photo is fabulous, though, Susan. So crisp and clear and metallic against the tree limbs in the background.

I think fire escapes are very cool. Neat lines, especially the steps.

Love all the cross-hatching lines - BW was definitely the way to go with this image - really shows up the geometry of those lines.

Save this shot Susan, because if she pulls "Stairway to Heaven" out of the archives it can do double duty. I hope your pets are keeping cool, oh yea, you too!

Great shot of the steps!! I don't know why, but these are the kind of steps that I always feel I'll fall down, but I like looking at from the angle you took this photo. :p

The BW composition here really works. I love the interesting lines of this shot. You are getting a reputation I think for your boldness in taking your photos. I like that!

Wonderful in B/W ...and love the angle from which you took the shot! Am now curious and will have a look at your blog now!

Well, now you've got that song into my head -- takes me back to my James Taylor days. Your POV of the iron stairs and the b&w treatment really work well together!

Fantastic in B&W! Love the lines you've created with your POV! I had a hard time getting last week's song out of my head and now I'll be humming this one!

Love how the black and white photograph emphasizes the fact that it IS truly a black and white image. Those stairs look pretty new instead of some of the rickety ones I've seen. You've captured the song title beautifully! See you here this coming Sunday!!
