Songography

Songography with the fabulous Kathy over at "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out".  She's got a button, but I can't find the code for it, so use the link.  mmmK?

OK-heretic, stone me. I don't like Rod Stewart. It's the scratchy voice thing. But that's why radios have buttons, and CDs can be popped in the player when there ain't nuthin' out there that appeals.  I kind of avoid the whole music thing and listen to Dr Joy Browne and all those callers who need advice.

However, one need not like a song to participate in songography-that's way cool.

I think it may be human nature to wish for what we don't have.  Curly hair when ours is straight, living in a city rather than our rural spot, or that green grass the neighbors are sporting in their front yard.  Maybe they wish they didn't have to do all that fertilizing and lime spreading when they look at me sitting around.  Who knows?  The elderly want to be young, the young want to be "old enough".  It's just the way it is-and sort of pointless most the time.

Jeez I'm quite philosophical this morning.  Surely it's temporary.

Sad they don't know that this is when the door swings so wide open you can see the whole universe...if you open your eyes.
I didn't see it.

He told me I should take a whole bunch of photos of him and send them to Vogue.  I titled this without thinking about this week's song at all.  It's just an image that fits.

Don't know him....he just chose to jump in my shot.  His buddy in the background was a little less precocious.

She told me she never stays for the last "winner take all", she just likes playing the regular $50 to the winner games.  Skittles-jus' sayin', that's staying forever young.

And here I am sort of in the middle wishing I could go back and taking a hard look at what's ahead.  I'm going to need these goofy friends as the years inch on.  Hope we can all stay together, but I bet it won't work that way.

Forever Young.  Yah, thanks for letting me ramble on.  Now I have to get back to my homework assignments-I'm taking a class on HTML and CSS trying to learn web development.  Egad-talk about "Forever Young"....all those 19 year olds in the class are killing it.  I'm getting killed by it.  I will soldier on however.  Have a great day.

Sing-Song-ography

Linking with rock star Kathy this week for Songography.  Thanks my friend.  Love your meme.

Look Out any Window.
Hmmmm.

What if I looked IN any window, would that still count?

I love how that cross-point on the window frame helps svelte me out a bit.

Or what happens if I look in any mirror? I think wicked awesome stuff happens.
Or it did on this day which was good, because I was struggling to find something.
Thank you classic Mustang for bailing me out.

But something wicked awesome totally happened when I looked out my windshield window and then made a race for the beach road where I thought I might be able to snag it.
I did.

Raise your hand if you understand the title.

This is almost SOOC-a little straightening and a touch of contrast for the tree line.
Is there a God?....I think something like this might offer validity when I wonder.

And that's a wrap on taking a song and switching it around so I could make my pics fit it rather than fit my pics TO it.  It's all good.  Creativity + cheating = Done.
Happy Sunday to all.  Looking forward to seeing the view from the other side of the glass.

Autumn Songography

Linking with my friend Kathy over at "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" for this Sunday's Songography, featuring Forever Autumn as the song du jour.  I'd write "song du week" if I knew how to write week....thank you hostess mostest.

Our leaves here in Maine are still on the trees, but they're turning colors and beginning to fall.  Maybe that's why they call it fall.  Hmmmm.  It will soon be peak foliage season and if you're not paying attention the parade of tour buses coming to town is a clue.  The leaf peepers.

I don't like fall.  The light is fading, growing shorter.  I love going out after dinner to shoot photos-I think it's one of the things I love most about summer, those long days.  I can get out now if I skip dinner and go directly after work not passing go and not collecting $200.

In the fall however, there are some gorgeous skies.  Maybe there are in summer too, but I'm all chased out by then and head home too early compared to squeezing in as much light as possible as I do in this season.  I also like the long, long shadows-warm in the golden light.

Mostly though, it feels kind of sad to me, and I see that reflected in my images.  Maybe you see something else.  To thine own self be true.

Thanks for checking in with me at Songography.  Happy day to you.  I'm off to work.

Photo Heart Connecting

Sitting Place
Sitting Place

Here's September's winner.  At least today scrolling through the month of images, this is the one.  If I look tomorrow that cute one of Tula Dot lying on the floor might supersede.

This one gets the call because I like it.  Because its subject is sitting in front of a tacky Japanese restaurant with neon beer signs in the windows.  I think this restaurant is more about the bar than the egg rolls.  I like it because unless I told you, you'd never know it.  You'd imagine something quaint.

I like this because I'd just pulled my car into the tired parking lot so I could wander across and down the street to take pics of some cool shadow patterns along a nearby bridge.  But then my head swiveled.  I love that.  I again will say that snap of the neck serves me well.

What does that mean?  Instinct?  What did God give me?
I still struggle with hearing loss-not because I can't hear at all....I can hear some. Enough to get by if I try hard and wear hearing aids, but not well enough to be a musician, to teach music, to do what I really was meant to do.  To make my work and passion the same thing.

But, would that instinctive eye have been discovered if the music kept feeding my heart?
I'm not willing to embrace the silver lining--yet--
I don't believe the trade off is a better deal--yet--
I'm not ready to stop being pissed off--yet--
but maybe my insides are starting to hear what my swiveling head, instinctive eye, and this sentence of silence is telling me.

Or maybe this is just a gorgeous bench shadow outside an ugly Japanese restaurant.

Today's post is brought to you by the letters P H and C and also with sponsorship through Kat and the Kat Eye Studio.  Bill and Melinda Gates nor the Pew Charitable Trust had nothing to do with the Photo Heart Connection, but you can.  All are welcome.  Click the button and see.
